Who needs a Christmas tree when you’ve got a Vespa all lit up for the holidays?
Vespa on Film: Roman Holiday (1953)
Movies + Vespa = magic, right? We’ve been inspired by the Vespa e Cinema exhibit over at the Official Piaggio museum in Pontederra, Italy, which documents the celluloid history of the scooter we know and love. But since we all can’t hop on a flight to Italy to check it out, we’re bringing you some of our favorite Vespa movie moments.
First up: the classic Roman Holiday. This flick earned Audrey Hepburn, the perennial emblem of all that’s chic, a Best Actress Oscar for her infectious starmaking performance alongside Gregory Peck. As Ann, a princess who’s sick of her royal duties, Hepburn sneaks off to Rome for some unsupervised fun and a chance to live the normal life. She stumbles upon Joe, Peck’s expatriate American reporter, and they share a whirlwind adventure through the Italian capital, including this Vespa ride that ends up, of all places, at the police station. Looks like Audrey needs a few riding lessons, but one thing is for sure—there’s no better way to see Rome than on a Vespa.

Okay, even the British redcoats can’t resist a Vespa!
So this one might not be in English, but it’s got droolworthy shots of the Aprilia RSV4. Doesn’t this make you want to hit the track?
